The European Commission said that in the fourth quarter of 2025 it will launch a European Grid package to expand the energy storage capacity and to withdraw investments in clean energy.
The plan announced in addition to an evaluation of the national energy and climate plans of the Member States, which states that it will streamline EU legislation and shorten project goods inspection times, including by updates to environmental rules, to speed up renewable energy, grid infrastructure and storage implementation.
The committee also published its latest NECP report, which shows that the European Union is on schedule to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 54% by 2030 – only one percentage point short of the 55% goal.
