The largest solar power plant in the UK has been put into use and exports 20% of its capacity.

The 42MWP Derril Water Solar Farm, developed by RES Before you were sold to a cooperative in 2023, Ripple Energy managed the chicken run.

Consumers bought part of the solar farm and receive discounts on their energy bills based on the amount of renewable energy produced by their share.

Ripple announced his insolvency and appointed managers in March This year but the insured members that because it only managed the cooperatives, the operations would not be interrupted.

After he had raised more than £ 20 million by the participation of nearly 10,000 households and small companies, Derril Water would come online in the late summer 2025, according to the project website, but on August 9, Coop received communications from the Cooperative Board who stated that tests were not completed.

According to an e -mail seen by Solar -Energy PortalNational Grid Energy Distribution (Nged) Engineers completed G99 tests on 4 September, at what time the project started to export with 20%.

It was expected that exports would start at full capacity after G100 tests, which were completed on 10 September.

However, the engineers discovered that one of the medium -sized voltage station (MVS) of the site was damaged and leaked during transport. Although ethical electricity, which cooperates with the Coop Board to manage the construction and operation of Derril Water, is in contact with the manufacturer of the unit, Nged said that although one of the units was ‘out of operation’, the export limit of 20% would remain.

Members also heard that the Coop will receive the ‘first set of generation money’ that is available at the beginning of January 2026. “To manage expectations,” the board pointed out that it expects very little generation in the coming months and therefore not expected that there will be no meaningful income to spread. “

As such, it said that members will probably not receive payments until July 2026.

For energy bill that consumers will see on the basis of the fact that electricity generated by renewable energy sources is cheaper, payments are made directly on the bank accounts of the members.

The completion of the project will probably be a relief for members of the chicken run, especially after the collapse of Ripple Energy after a “Significant level of accounting discrepancies“Were” discovered “in the financial data of the company, which expresses concern about solvency and to the appointment of Begbies Traynor as manager.
