Researchers from the Inner Mongolia University of Technology in China have developed a new Lifecycle parameter that is said to help increase the coordinated control and service lifes in Flywheel Energy Storage Array Systems (Fesass).

Compared to other mechanical energy storage technologies such as pumped hydro and compressed air, Fesass have higher values for specific capacity, specific energy, power and energy density, life cycle, efficiency, self -discharge speed and energy capital costs. FESAs, on the other hand, have lower values for lifetime, scale, maintenance and power capital costs. Their impact on the environment is extremely low, while that is from pumped hydro and compressed air and medium to low and high to medium respectively. Furthermore, it is claimed that FESASS effectively reaches electricity, frequency regulation and improved power quality.
