Fluke today introduced two new products: the Fluke 283 FC Digital Solar Multimeter and the Fluke a283 FC True-RMS Wireless Clamp Meter, allowing solar professionals to work with more confidence without compromising safety in high-voltage environments, such as testing individual panels, strings or inverters in a utility-scale solar PV array.

Fluke’s new 283 FC Digital Multimeter is designed to increase safety and increase productivity, while also giving technicians accurate, reliable and repeatable results. The Fluke 283 FC/PV Solar Kit includes CAT III 1500 V DC safety accessories that allow technicians to work with confidence in high-voltage environments. Staubli MC4 test leads allow professionals to quickly make reliable, secure connections to modules or strings to test DC voltage up to 1,500 V, ideal for utility applications. The TL175-HV CAT III 1500 V / CAT IV 1000 V silicone test leads provide flexibility for testing voltage, milli-voltage, resistance, continuity and capacitance on inverters, combiner boxes, PV arrays and individual PV modules.

“Our digital multimeters are known for their exceptional accuracy, durability and safety features, making them the preferred choice of professionals across industries for reliable and accurate measurements,” said Jason Waxman, president of Fluke Corporation. “The Fluke 283 FC is uniquely positioned to serve this market, with both CAT III 1500 and CAT IV 1000 ratings prioritizing features that increase efficiency, safety and reliability. It is a powerful all-in-one tool for solar professionals.”

The a283 FC True-RMS Wireless Clamp Meter simplifies the troubleshooting process without compromising safety and reliability. It measures both AC and DC current up to 60 A, ensuring accurate measurements for solar installations, electrical systems and industrial equipment. The thin jaw is specially designed for tight spaces such as combiner boxes or inverters. The contactless design prioritizes safety every step of the way, ensuring secure connections without the need to touch live wires. Additionally, wireless connectivity eliminates the hassle of tangled wires, allowing measurements from a safe distance.

The Fluke 283 FC Digital Multimeter and the a283 FC Wireless Clamp Meter allow technicians to simultaneously measure voltage and current and automatically calculate VA power. This feature eliminates the need to change the measurement setup, allowing seamless and efficient data collection in the field. Using Fluke Connect with the Fluke Cloud Storage capability, 283 FC users get an enhanced troubleshooting experience by allowing the 283 FC to send measurements to a smartphone or tablet for detailed analysis that is uploaded to the cloud.
