Créawatt, a French company that produces flexible solar panels, was placed on July 16 by the Orléans Commercial Court in receiver. A new hearing is planned for 3 September to assess the situation and possibly decide on a continuation or recovery plan.

The financial problems of the company deteriorated at the beginning of 2025, a Créawatt employee said PV Magazine France on condition of anonymity. In 2023, the company had announced industrial ambitions, including plans to move a production line to its Amilly factory in the Loiret Department. It also increased its capital of € 340,000 ($ 399,600) to more than € 5 million.

The industrial project, with an integrated R&D component, seems to have confronted with technical and financial setbacks. A new production line is expected to be launched in 2025 to support a production-off ride that did not take place. According to La République du CenterOrder volumes have remained low since the autumn of 2024 and the salaries for May and June 2025 have not been paid – an earlier this year that was reported earlier this year.

To meet his financial challenges, the company can open its capital for a new shareholder, alongside founder Jean-Noël Gaine and Bouwgroep Baudin Chateauneuf, who already has an interest. Such a step can provide new financing and support a recovery plan if the court stipulates that the industrial model of the company is viable.

Since 2022, Créawatt had attracted interest in sector by striving for a domestic production project for solar panels. The company collaborated with the Chinese manufacturer Sunman to develop an ultra-light weight panel of 3.2 kg/m² that can be installed on a wide range of roofs without structural reinforcement. The panel, part of the luxury range, won the Silver Medal on the Batimat 2024 Innovation Awards and is specifically designed for zinc roofs. It was already assembled in the Amilly factory.

The company did not respond to a request for comments from PV Magazine France At the time of writing.
