GCL group has revealed that the GCL-Optoelectronics unit has reached 29.51% power conversion-efficiency for a 2,048 cm² Perovskiet-Silicon tandem solar module. The result is certified by the Chinese National Institute of Metrology.

GCL said that the same module achieved efficiency of 27.34% a year ago, which marked an annual profit of more than two percentage points. It has not revealed technical details behind the last result.

GCL recently launched what the world’s first AI-driven high-throughput has called Perovskite production system. De Lijn uses 52 precision sensors and an AI decision engine in a self-leather feedback loop, which is said to produce 300 cells and analyzes 1,800 high-accurate data sets per day. GCL said that this reduces the conversion time of laboratory to 90%.

The company also emphasized cell uniformity, with performance variation between batches below 0.75%, which indicates a stable output and scalability for mass production.

GCL follows a strategy “Gigawatt scale production + scenario-based demonstration” to commercialize his dental modules. It is commissioning equipment for his first production line of Gigawatt scale, which expects to start with mass production by the end of 2025. The line will produce 2.76 m² tandem modules and has an expected annual output value of CNY 1 billion ($ 138.8 million).

In April 2025, GCL Group said that the GCL-Photo-Electric materials unit of 19.04% reached a 1 mx 2 m perovskiet single-junction module.

Another unit, GCL-Perovskite, gave a 100 MW production line for perovskiet panels in September 2021.
