The Chinese solar maker Huasun claims to have achieved a power conversion -efficiency of 34.02% for a tandem solar cell of 1 cm² based on a perovskite top cell and a silicon heterojunction (HJT) soil device.

The company did not say whether the result was certified by an independent entity.

“At the laboratory level, the team innovatively introduced a double passivating strategy that combined physical field effects and chemical bonds, which considerably reduced interfacial non-combinative losses,” Huasun said. “At the same time, the Huasun team, by applying new Perovskiet crystallization additives and materials with a high mobility layer layers, achieved transport layers together with a series of material improvements and process improvements, an extensive optimization of grain orientation, coordination of the energy level and interface-stability.

The manufacturer also claims to have achieved an efficiency of 29.01% in a large cell with the same architecture on one of his production lines, without providing further details.

“This breakthrough was made possible by Huasun’s great texture Dunne film deposits technology, which ensures uniform coating on complex surfaces and overcomes important challenges when scaling perovskiet materials,” it explained further. “By introducing organic stabilizers, Huasun deposition -uniformity and environmental craftsmen improved, while new interface transport materials improved reliability and process compatibility.”

More technical information about the cell design was not released.

In May 2024, Huasan achieved a capital conversion-efficiency of 26.50% in a HJT solar cell based on a zero-bus bar (0BB) module technology and Zilvergecoate copper pasta with a low silver content.
