The weekly average electricity price during the week of July 28 fell on large European electricity markets, according to analysis of ALEASOFT Energy Prognosing.

Compared to the week before, the Spanish consultancy noted a decrease in the weekly average electricity price in the Belgian, British, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Nordic, Portuguese and Spanish markets.

Weekly averages were lower than € 80 ($ 93.21)/MWh in all markets Bar de British and Italian markets, where averages respectively amounted to € 88.77/MWH and € 104.28/MWh. The Nordic market reached the lowest weekly average, with € 29.95/MWh.

In France, Germany, Italy and Spain, an increase in solar energy production has helped to lower electricity prices a week to week. ALEASOFT says that the falling demand for electricity in most markets has also contributed to the lower prices, in addition to an increased production of wind energy in selected markets.

The consultancy predicts that the week that starts on August 4, the electricity prices in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal will rise, influenced by a decrease in the production of wind energy. Further price decreases are expected in the other analyzed markets, with an increased production of solar energy that contributes to lower prices in some markets.

ALEASOFT predicts that the week of 4 August will also bring an increase in solar energy in Germany, Italy and Spain.
