The Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) has given more time for plant construction to the 1.5 GW of projects selected in the first of the country Utility scale Agrivoltaics Tender.
The decision followed on reports from various developers who said they could not get the first 30 June 2025, the government’s deadline.
The new deadline is June 30, 2026. Grid connection must be completed within 18 months of construction.
The new provisions, set out in a decree issued on 24 June and published on 25 June, also apply to projects that were submitted before the decree was withdrawn.
The Italian energy agency GSE has awarded 1.5 GW of capacity in the tender, after revising 643 bids of a total of 1.7 GW.
The Selected projects Record 270 MW for European Energy, a 62 MW Restoration Surray in Sicily and a 73 MW Next Energy Capital installation in Campania. Other large receivers are Solari with 122 MW, Photosol with 55 MW and DCH Di Carlo with more than 140 MW, just behind European energy.
Most projects were submitted by farms. All eligible projects received incentives, because the tender did not reach its maximum quota. Discounts on ceiling prices varied from 9.18% to 53%, with larger projects that benefit from economies of scale.
The ceiling price was set at € 0.093/kWh for projects up to 300 kW and € 0.085/kWh for larger installations.
Most projects are in southern Italy, with extra locations in Lazio and Emilia-Romagna in central and northern regions.
