Independent Power Producer (IPP) Low Carbon has announced that it has successfully connected four new Solar PV energy plants to the grid.
The four projects have a combined generation capacity of 129 MW and are spread over England. The largest of these developments is the Feldon Vale Solar PV energy plant, which is located in Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, and has a capacity of 49.9 MW generation.
The Pepperhill project is in Shropshire and has a capacity of 21 MW generation, while the Long Meadow project is placed in Essex and has a capacity of 19 MW.
The final project to be connected, the Birch Solar PV energy plant, is also located in Essex; In particular, in addition to the 39 MW generation capacity for solar PV, it also has a 30 MW co-attracted battery energy storage system (BESS).
Roy Bedlow, founder and chief executive of Low Carbon, noted that the company is pleased to see continuous progress in his pipeline, and added: “The timely energy of these assets will ensure that they can support the government’s clean Power 2030 and stimulate our energy breach”. Low Carbon states that it is planned to start the construction of more than 400 MW of renewable energy developments in the next 18 months.
2025 – A large year for low carbon
The first six months of this year, low carbon made a number of important movements while expanding its footprint on the British market.
In April the developer announced that it had submitted a planning application for the Beacon Fen Energy Park to the British government. The proposed factory, which will be located in the east of Sleaford, Lincolnshire, will have a 400 MW solar PV energy plant, as well as a co-located Bess with a capacity of approximately 600 MW.
Due to its size, the project is classified as a nationally important infrastructure project (NSIP) and therefore requires a more extensive assessment process via the planning inspection and the State Secretary for Energy; The project was accepted by these departments at the beginning of May by these departments.
More recently, Low Carbon sold a pipeline of eight ready-to-use solar PV projects earlier this month with a combined capacity of 350 MW, as well as two energy storage projects with a total of 85 MW capacity, to French energy-major total total stengies.
