JamestownA global real estate investment and management company announced the installation of a 200-KW solar energy system on Levi’s Plaza, an office campus of almost 1 million FT² along Embarcadero in San Francisco, on the Northern Waterfront market of the city.
Jamestown collaborated with BlowA provider of commercial energy solutions, to use the solar system that came online in June. The project on Levi’s Plaza is part of a wider partnership with Wunder to evaluate solar energy and implement it at applicable locations in the real estate portfolio and development fruits of Jamestown.
Solar on the roof was part of a wider retrofit of $ 50 million, including eliminating fossil fuels on site, the conversion of heating systems to electric and compensating for the remaining emissions.
“Reaching net-no-operational carbon requires a versatile approach, and on Levi’s Plaza the use of robust solar energy systems was an important part of that strategy,” said Alex Schwiebert, Senior VP, regional market leader in West Coast at Jamestown. “Sustainability initiatives such as these have proved to be an important engine for attracting tenants, while also lowering energy costs.”
Levi’s Plaza, located along the Embarcadero in San Francisco on the northern waterfront of the city, was built in 1981 as the head office for the iconic clothing brand Levi Strauss & Company. Jamestown acquired the campus with nine buildings in 2019 and has since made efforts to maintain the character and significance of the open space of the building, which was designed by the renowned landscape architect Lawrence Halprin, while also improving the site with new facilities and efficiency for the modern workforce.
Levi’s Plaza serves a diverse tenant base with Levi Strauss & Company, Snap and Supercell.
