Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that the New York Power Authority (NYPA) has acquired fully ownership of a 20-MW solar energy energy generation project in the city of Fort Edward in Washington County. The Somers Solar Project is the first to be taken over, owned and operated by the Power Authority under its extensive authority – signed by the Gouverneur in 2023 – and is the first of Nypa’s first tranche of projects emphasized in its strategic plan for renewable energy sources that was announced in the new yw.
