A Nexamp community solar project in Illinois.

Nexamp announced it is partnering with Walmart to develop 31 community solar projects across the United States. These projects are expected to generate more than 120 MWdirect current of renewable energy for the electric grid, creating more than 1,500 jobs and delivering millions in consumer savings to local businesses and approximately 8,000 residential customers.

Walmart and Nexamp previously collaborated on a portfolio of community solar projects in New York in 2021.

The 31 community solar projects will focus on bringing the benefits of affordable, renewable energy to subscribers in five states.

“Partnering with Walmart to expand access to affordable, clean energy is a great opportunity for Nexamp and for the communities we serve,” said Zaid Ashai, CEO of Nexamp. “Together we are working to bring benefits to thousands of households across the country. This collaboration demonstrates the power of partnerships in advancing the clean energy transition.”

The solar farms will be located in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois and Minnesota.

“Walmart’s energy strategy is focused on enabling affordable and reliable solutions that deliver positive results for our communities. Our partnership with Nexamp is designed to help communities save money on energy bills, strengthen local grid infrastructure and fuel local job creation,” said Frank Palladino, VP of renewable energy strategy at Walmart.
