Norwegian startup Evert is developing a residential and commercial solution that combines a solar PV inverter, electric vehicle charging and energy management in one unit, replacing multiple devices from multiple suppliers.

The company’s founders are former solar energy installers. “We quickly realized that the process was more complicated than it should be,” said Kristoffer Fossan, co-founder and CEO of Evert. pv magazine.

The proposed solution aims to integrate multiple devices into one unit, including the PV inverter ranging from 5 to 22 kW, MPPT solar charge controller, energy management system and a bi-directional 22 kW charger for electric vehicles.

It has connectivity to the power grid and storage systems, along with communication protocols, such as Lorawan, Wifi, Modbus and Canbus. The Evert management software provides remote access and monitoring via internet and smartphone. Further details about the features and electronics are not disclosed.

“Our solution is aimed at installers and distributors serving the residential and commercial solar markets, so they can offer their customers a complete energy management system,” said Fossen. Support is planned for the integration of wind energy, off-grid, community solar and virtual power plants.

The energy management unit is currently in the prototype phase. “The prototypes will be handed over to our manufacturing partner and we will be establishing partnerships with distributors and installers across Europe,” said Fossan. The first commercial products are expected in mid-2025. Production is outsourced locally in Norway.
