UK Energy Regulator ofgem has revealed that his final decision for which of the 171 applicant projects will now continue to the project assessment period to receive financial support on 23 September.
Just over 70% of the successful projects in the first window of the UK’s Long-Duration Energy Storage (LDES) schedule use Lithium-ion BESS technology.
OFGEM has established that 77 projects met the criteria, some of which are planned for 2030 operations (track 1) and some for 2033 operation (track 2).
The scheme offers a cap-and-flor income stabilizing mechanism for successful projects, about which you can read more Our reporting of a webinar on the subject of Consultancy Balinga, published on ESN Premium On Monday.
The 77 projects a total of 28.7 GW of capacity and must be used as, on a minimum systems of 8 hours.
Due to GW capacity, Lithium-ion battery energy storage systems (BESS) accounts for 70.4%, pumped hydro accounts for 16.0%, vanadium power battery/zinc battery Hybrid projects for 9.1%, pure vanadium stream battery projects for 3.1%, with a Hybar Aerytafstand and Competi-bib and compoundary airtoeibare and compasse-afiles and compoundary airtoei-Liques and compassional airforms, and compatible airtoeibare-based airtoeibes and compoundional airytiStafes) Storage (Caes) the rest.
Especially when the Support schedule Was driven for the first time, the government set technologies for electricity storage that can already be financed under existing market conditions “such as Lithium-ion battery energy systems (BESS)”-must be excluded.
Of the 96 respondents of the first consultation, 39 ‘not agree’ were given answers, and that it was clarified that that Projects would not be excluded “exclusively based on their technological type”. The Ministry of Net Zero and Energy Security (onsnz) later confirmed that the scheme would take place and include lithium ion projects.
