OutBack power will partner with New York-based lithium battery manufacturer Near Prime Technologies (NPT) to offer a domestic supply of battery systems for residential and commercial energy storage. NPT and cell company C4V will provide OutBack systems with BMLMP cells (BioMineralized Lithium Mixed Metals Phosphate). The cells are UL 1973 and UL 1642 certified and have completed UL 9540A testing.

Under the contract, OutBack will integrate C4V’s BMLMP cell technology, manufactured in the United States by NPT, into OutBack’s storage products. The assembly and commercialization of the final systems will be driven by OutBack Power as a full-scale residential energy storage solution.

“By partnering with Near Prime and C4V, we are joining a U.S.-based, defense-certified supply chain that ensures the long-term reliability, security and domestic energy independence our customers demand. This is another important milestone in OutBack’s transformation,” said Randy Taylor, General Manager of OutBack Power.

Under the contract, OutBack Power has committed to purchasing 2 GWh of battery cells over the next five years. The agreement also includes options for annual renewals and volume expansion until 2030.

“This is about building resilience and trust,” said James Showalter, CEO of Energy Access Innovations (EAI), parent company of OutBack. “We are scaling back production, investing in long-term partnerships and delivering on our promise of reliable, accessible energy for all. This is the same technology that has passed U.S. Department of Defense designation and is being deployed in autonomous naval systems. We are scaling back production, investing in long-term partnerships and delivering defense-grade reliability to private energy users.”

The collaboration also includes the co-development of a custom BMS tailored to OutBack’s 28S1P, 103.5 V, 40 A architecture, optimized for C4V’s 53 Ah, 3.7 V US-made cells.
