The Japanese electronics manufacturer Panasonic announced that it is currently a new energy management system (EMS) that helps to increase the self-consumption of the residential PV by combining solar power generation with heat pumps and batteries.

The first pilot projects are carried out in the Tokyo metropolitan area with the support of the Japanese oil giant Eenos.

Panasonic implements his Hems/BEGS batteries at PV-driven houses and companies that are the customers of Eenos and the external heat pump boilers, air conditioning equipment and the batteries themselves will offer.

“By properly controlling the charging and discharging of the batteries with the help of our own algorithms, we want to increase the user speed of renewable energy by maximizing self-consumption of solar energy,” the company said in a statement. “We will also assess the profitability and operational viability of transactions for electricity market and potential cost reductions.”

More technical details about the new EMS solution were not revealed.

Panasonic recently released a new version of its eco cute CO2 heat pump that is equipped with a solar radiation Shift function that adjust the production of household hot water (DHW) during the day Adjustment to the roof of PV current generation. The product has been developed with TEPCO Energy Partner, an electricity store of the Japanese Nut Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO).
