Peak Energy announced the successful implementation and operation of the first sodium battery system on the schedule in the US on Friday.
For the first time unveiled in July, The 3.5 MWh sodium ion storage system from Peak Energy now works at Solar and Renewable Energy Test Facility Solartac in Watkins, Colorado. The gratan installation is carried out in collaboration with nine utilities and independent power producers (IPPs), making it the greatest commitment of sodium-ion energy storage in the country.
Peak Energy will collect operational and modeling data and distribute the real operation of his system to the participants of the project. From 2027 the company expects to launch on commercial scale projects.
