French independent power producer (IPP) Qair has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to British company INTEC Energy Solutions for its 46.5 MW Brecks solar farm.
The project is currently under construction near Retford in Nottinghamshire, and is Qair’s first solar project to reach this stage of development in the UK. INTEC will provide EPC services for two years, in addition to operations and maintenance (O&M), and has the option to extend the contract.
This project will make a significant contribution to INTEC’s UK clean energy portfolio, which currently has a capacity of 13 MW. This is the first collaboration between INTEC and Qair, and the former said it could facilitate a “long-term partnership” in the UK renewable energy market in the future.
“This collaboration marks the start of a strong partnership, and we look forward to working together on future projects while continuing to support the UK’s transition to a more sustainable energy future,” said Tom Darkey, Managing Director of INTEC UK.
Qair first received planning permission for the Brecks project in September 2023, after which the company announced that the project would cover 54 hectares. The company has since focused its efforts on developing battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Britain. obtaining permission for a 49.9 MW BESS last July And a 342 MW battery project last October; both projects will be built in Scotland.
