Investor Renewable Power Capital (RPC) and Greenfield have received a planning state for two battery energy storage systems (BESS) of a total of 82 MW.

The projects, a 60 MW Bess in Wombourne, Staffordshire and a 22 MW facility in Thanet, Kent, are the fourth and fifth Bess projects for which RPC and Greenfield have obtained permission.

According to the companies, these two projects bring the combined capacity of their permitted portfolio at 194.7 MW. When she It first worked together in 2023RPC and Greenfield said they would develop at least 500 MW battery storage in the UK together.

The partnership was launched when RPC acquired two projects from Greenfield, the 40 MW Trdenton Bess and the 22.8 MW Steventton Project. Those two sites Secure planning permission at the start of this yearAnd in June the third Bess of the partners, a 49.9 MW facility in the Vale or Glorgan, Wales, was agreed by the city council.

The most recently approved 60 MW Canalside Bess has a grid connection date of 2029, and the 22MW Sacketts Hill project has an offer for a connection of 2031. Both projects have been submitted for an earlier connection under the reformed process, in the hope of a one Port 2 offer.

The construction of both projects is expected to take between eight and 12 months. Canalside will see a net change of 49.51% in the based habitat and an increase of 31.68% in linear habitats, while Sacketts Hill is expected to produce a net habitate unit change of 10.93 Habitat units (which represent a net profit of 125%).

These biodiversity efforts correspond to RPC and Greenfield’s declared dedication to the environmental management.

RPC was launched by the Canada Pension Plan Investments (CPP Investments), a state-owned Pension Investment Fund, in December 2020. The London-Headquartered Renewables Company has a battery storage pipeline of more than 5.5 GW in Great Britain, Italy and Finland, said it.

As well as the collaboration with Greenfield, a RPC ended at the end of 2023 Joint Venture with the Spanish-based company for renewable energy companies, Elmya EnergyTo develop 4GW from Bess and Co-located Solar PV assets in the UK.
