Only seven months after the construction started on the new PV Cell factory of SEG Solar on the Indonesian island of Java, the company announced the successful commissioning of the first production line of the $ 480 million factory.

SEG Solar said that since then Breaking Ground During the project in September 2024, the factory completed the factory construction, production line companies and the initial production of highly efficient solar cells.

The first product made in the facility is a self-developed N-type solar cell that SEG Solar said that it offers “excellent output power and stability” with an average conversion efficiency of 26.4%.

“The commissioning of the first production line of the factory signals the full operational launch of the first phase of the project with four production lines with a total capacity of 2 GW,” said the company, adding that the factory uses double -sided varied screenshoters that are based on an average cycling time of 0.75 seconds. “

The intention is for the factory to extend to an annual capacity of 5 GW with SEG -Zonne energy with the aim of developing a fully vertically integrated industrial chain in Indonesia that cover silicon bars, waffles, solar cells and modules.

SEG Solar said that the PV Cell Factory is one of the first solar projects to be completed on the industrial estate of the state in Batang, about 390 km east of Jakarta. It claimed that it will help to attract other solar industries and improve the position of Indonesia in the global supply chain for renewable energy industry.

“The successful commissioning offers a replicable model for attracting more PV manufacturers and improves the industrial cluster effect of the park,” the company said.

SEG Solar said that the Indonesia Cell factory is an essential part of its global expansion strategy with the completion of the facility that marks the switch from the company from the production from module to power -reducing production of solar cells.

SEG Solar has previously indicated that the solar cells and solar panels produced in Indonesia will supply the company’s module factory in the United States and offer “cleaner, traceable green products to markets in the US, Europe and Indonesia.”
