The production capacity of PV module in Southeast Asia has reached 86.5 GW at 61 active locations, according to the quality assurance company Sinovoltaics based in Hong Kong. The figures come from the newest report “Southeast Asia Solar Supply Chain Map” from the company.
Sinovoltaics, a technical compliance and quality assurance provider with headquarters in Hong Kong, brought his newest “Southeast -Asia Solar Supply Chain Map“Reporting that type plate PV module production capacity in the region has reached 86.5 GW on 61 active production projects.
Available as a Free DownloadThe report includes locations that produce PV modules, cells, waffles, ingots, polysilicon and silicon with metallurgical quality based on publicly available information.
Since the previous edition, ICA Solar, based in Indonesia, and United Renewable Energy, has added new projects in the region in Taiwan.
The analysts at Sinovoltaics see challenges ahead, despite the target of the region of 101 GW module capacity and 69.8 GW cell production by 2028-2030. “Zuidoost -Azië diende aanvankelijk als een oplossing voor handelsbarrières die zich richten op Chinese fabrikanten, maar nieuwe Amerikaanse importtarieven veroorzaken scherpe verlagingen van operationele capaciteit en zelfs tijdelijke fabrieksafsluitingen”, zei Dricus de Rooij, chief executive officer bij Sinovoltaics in een verklaring in een verklaring in een verklaring in een verklaring in een verklaring in een verklaring in een verklaring in een verklaring in een verklaring in een Declaration in a declaration in a declaration in a declaration in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement in a statement, and adds that the result is the export of the factory to European markets.
They also investigate alternative production bases, according to the analysts, with production announcements that shift to Laos and Indonesia, as well as the Middle East and Africa.
A “strong vertical integration trend” was also noticed. The Southeast Asian Ingot capacity is expected to “almost double” from 16 GW to 30 GW in 2030, while the production of polysilicon is expected to grow from 82,000 tons to 342,000 tons. MG-SI production is also expanding, “with 102,000 tons already online,” the company said.
This is the latest Supply Chain report from Sinovoltaics. Earlier this year, the European and North American maps released.
