Hong Kong-based technical compliance and quality assurance Company Sinovoltaics has released its first Solar Supply Chain Map for the Middle -East and Africa. It follows the nameplate capacity of 3.4 GW for modules, 2.5 GW for solar cells and 8.05 GW of ingots.

“Ambitious growth views have been announced before 2030,” said the analysts.

In the next five years, the Middle East and Africa were able to see up to 62.12 GW module production, 52.55 GW of solar cell capacity, 45 GW polysilicon and 290 tons of silicon for metallurgical quality.

The report states 27 factory sites and contains information about location, size, owner and planned capacity. It is mainly based on public announcements.

The analysts emphasized the accelerating effort to build up full vertical integration into solar PV production early, from the production of polysilicon to module assembly.

“This production expansion is designed to close the stock dogs on regional markets and North America, where limited power-generating production of solar component and low rates cause strong demand,” said Dricus de Rooij, CEO and co-founder of Sinovoltaid in a explanation, such as some of the challenges Bottel restrictions “are still to grow.

The analysts noted that the production developments were stimulated by government support and local content requirements, adding that there is potential to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.

They also see potential for export, which states that the “regions are strategically positioned to serve European markets and can also export to North America”, depending on American trade policy. “Although much of the announced capacity is supported by Chinese companies, the Middle East and Africa are steadily setting up as alternative suppliers for Southeast Asia, who have long dominated the export of solar energy,” they said.

The report is available as a free download. The Solar Supply Chain series includes production hubs in Europe, India, Southeast -Asiaand North America. There is also an annual transformer production report on capacity on mainland China.

Sinovoltaics, founded in 2009, is a technical compliance and quality assurance service company that covers the Battery Energy Storage (BESS) and photovoltaic industries for solar energy. It has factory inspection and audit teams in important production bases and offices in Europe, US Vietnam and China.
