European manufacturing takes center stage in the latest supply chain report from Sinovoltaic energya Hong Kong-based quality assurance company. The report shows the status of 121 production locations, while the previous edition had the status of 91 locations across the region.

The Sinovoltaics Supply Chain Map (SSCM) – European for Q2 2024 According to the analysts, there is a major information update. Sinovoltaics uses nominal capacity figures and publicly available information.

The analysts noted that Europe, Turkey and Kazakhstan currently have 22 GW of module production capacity. They said “several parties” have also announced an additional module production capacity of 38 GW for the period between 2027 and 2030.

Cell production amounts to 3 GW, and another 37 GW will be added in the coming years, for a total of 40 GW in 2027-2030. Ingot capacity has fallen to 2 GW, with Norway-based Norsun suspending its European production capacity for the time being, the analysts noted.

The report said Vallis Solaris, based in Croatia, of Spain Silicon Valenand Turkey-based Kalyon PV plan a capacity of 20 GW of blocks by 2027-2030. It also lists 13 manufacturers that have “suspended production or moved production” outside Europe.

Sinovoltaics regularly publishes supply chain maps to inform developers and industry members about emerging PV suppliers and the latest developments in global solar energy production. The reports are free and are published in the form of infographics and data tables.

They cover current and planned production activities for manufacturers of modules, cells, wafers, blocks, polysilicon and multi-grain silicon. It lists the capacity at each manufacturer’s factory location. Icons indicate whether a company is bankrupt, or whether a production location is closed or on hold.
