Solarkal works together with EPR properties to develop a 1.4-MW community solar project on top of EPRs 230,000-FT2 New ROC City Building in New Rochelle, New York.

As the anchor subscriber, EPR properties will drive the common areas of the building renewable energy and at the same time offer nearby residents and companies access to discount descriptions with a discount on communities. The home base of different entertainment locations, the new ROC City Complex serves as an important gathering place for the local environment.

“We are delighted to see our solar project with Solarkal and G&S almost completion, giving a solution to sustainable energy a meaningful local impact,” said Cassie Lane, director of Asset Management at EPR properties.

Solarkal carried out a feasibility analysis in the EPR portfolio and identified the new ROC City location as an ideal candidate for a community solar. The team then facilitated a competitive RFP and helped Select G&S Solar, a developer with deep expertise on the New York market.

“Solarkal is proud to help EPR components to unlock the financial value of their roof and at the same time promote their sustainability goals,” said Neil Sharma, Chief Commercial Officer at Solarkal. “This project lowers operating costs, generates long-term lease income and delivers real energy saving to the community. If someone who grew up with hockey in New ROC City, it is especially worthwhile to see this building a model for positive impact.”

“This project is a good example of how Solar can deliver benefits outside the roof,” said Abe Naparstek, Chief Operating Officer at G&S Solar. “We are proud to work with Solarkal and EPR properties to bring new, affordable energy to New Rochelle and at the same time achieve the ambitious climate goals of the state.”
