Stäubli North America, manufacturer of the popular MC4 connector, has announced plans to expand its manufacturing and assembly operations in South Carolina and California.

The company first established its North American presence in 1980 in Duncan, South Carolina. Today it is 103,000 feet2 The facility houses manufacturing, logistics and personnel to operate and support the company’s various divisions. In 2011, the company expanded with a 43,000 ft2 manufacturing facility for PV electrical connectors and other products in Windsor, California.

“We plan to steadily expand our made in America products at these manufacturing facilities,” said Brian Mills, head of Renewable Energy, North America. “Expanding our existing solar connector manufacturing footprint in the U.S. puts Stäubli in a strong position to support increasing demand for domestically made components, driven in part by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.”

In addition to connectors, Stäubli produces junction boxes, inline fuses and eBOS products for the solar energy market. World of solar energy has reached out to determine exactly which products will be made at the plants in South Carolina and California.
