Merit checks on an Enel Solar Energy site in Scurry, Texas.

Sungrow has formed a strategic non-exclusive cooperation with American merit controls to offer North American developers a new option for streamlined controls and cyber security.

Together they have created a disconnected, proven and safe solution that combines Merit’s Local Energy Management System (EMS), SCADA and network expertise with the best-in-class integrated energy storage systems of Sungrow-a combination that is intended to help projects to meet the increasingly complex utility and regulatory requirements.

“As the infrastructure of clean energy becomes more distributor and digital, it is crucial that our industry thinks beyond performance and also stress resilience,” said Michael Hudson, director of CyberSecurity strategy at Sungrow Americas. “Project developers and utility companies are increasingly recognizing that digital interfaces and operating systems – while innovation are made possible – also introduce new considerations for cyber security and net reliability.

Sungrow North -America does not import data or communication technology with its power formers and battery systems as a policy.

Merit Controls CEO Tom Kuster emphasized the commercial attraction of a system of cyber secure controls produced by the US that can help developers to prevent fragmented or ad hoc control solutions.

“This partnership is an important step forward in our mission to offer integrated, powerful solutions that stimulate the business value, the peace of fashion and the incremental probability of income,” he said.

“Merit is enthusiastic to expand our proven, Secure Energy Management System (EMS) with the advanced battery technology of Sungrow. We look forward to offering valuable integration, commissioning and service support that is essential for the successful implementation of this critical gridactiva.”

The Merit control platform contains functions to support raster interoperability, Nerc/CIP compliance and real-time monitoring. The system has already been used in dozens of PV, storage and hybrid installations in the region.

The joint solution is now available and is compatible with the full range of PV -Omverter and Battery storage systems from Sungrow on the North -American market.
