Sunport Power reveals lightweight N-type glass module with 22.5% efficiency

China with a Solar Cell headquarters and module manufacturer Jiangsu Sunport Power Corp., Ltd. has launched a lightweight module product on the Smarter-E Trade Show in Munich.

The new full black N-type solar module of the company has an efficiency of up to 22.5% and a power between 420 and 440 W. It is made of tempered glass with high transfer and relies on anodized aluminum alloy frames.

The dimensions of the module are 1,720 mm x 1.132 mm x 30 mm and weighs 10.8 kg or 5.5 kg per square meter. Sunport claims that the 3% module has more power compared to comparable products with the same dimensions and functions.

The company focuses on the market on the roof and adds that the lightweight of the module makes it ideal for roofs with limited load capacity. Sunport says it is 50% lighter than conventional glass modules and is designed for simple installation and simple cleaning.

It can be mounted on the roof, or it can also be installed with glue, similar to the flexible module series of the company.

“The labor costs for installation are very low,” a company spokesperson said PV -Magazine. “And for the entire system, the level of energy costs (LCOE) is approximately 60% of the costs of the traditional solar module.”

“Compared to the traditional glass solar module, it is very, very light,” the company said.

The product has a 1-year quality guarantee and a 25-year performance guarantee.

Sunport’s spokesperson told PV -Magazine That the module has taken the company in a new direction, because it did not use the Metal Wrap Through (MWT) technology what it is known for making this product.

The Modulemaker has a fully automated production line for return contact for MWT technology, but it was said that it has switched to mass production N-type solar energy due to high production costs.

“Now we use an N-type solar cell because we had to control the costs of the solar module and adapt to the market, and also, N-Type has a higher efficiency,” the spokesperson said.

They also confirmed that Sunport Power is planning to stay with the back contact technology he is known for. In total, Sunport has a production capacity of approximately 4 GW, but the company said that part of this production is dormant due to market uncertainty.

“It all depends on the market requirements … If we have more orders, we will perform all our production line, but now it is not so good,” said the spokesperson, referring to the current low module prices.

It is waiting for its time to wait for the market to recover and get more certainty, what it expects to come soon.
