SunRobiSunstall’s robot-assisted construction division, is the first certified operator of autonomous solar panel installation systems developed by Cosmic robotics. The certification follows multiple successful implementations of the Cosmic-1A system on live solar projects across the United States.

This designation formalizes a close, execution-oriented collaboration between SunRobi and Cosmic Robotics, aimed at bringing advanced construction robotics into real production environments. Through extensive on-site deployment, SunRobi crews have integrated autonomous installation into established EPC workflows, demonstrating how robotics can significantly improve the speed, consistency and sustainability of utility-scale workforce operations.

Rather than treating automation as a standalone tool, SunRobi worked with Cosmic Robotics to embed the Cosmic-1A system into the full project lifecycle – from logistics and layout planning to on-site execution. In active deployments, the system has functioned as a force multiplier for experienced crews, enabling higher throughput while reducing physical strain and variability in installation quality.

“The demand for solar energy is increasing and construction must keep pace without burning through the workforce,” said Helge Biernath, CEO of Sunstall. “Thanks to the robot-assisted installation, we can scale up in a responsible way. This is no longer an experiment. It is ready for production today.”

Through this work, SunRobi is advancing a model of robot-assisted construction where automation enhances – not replaces – a skilled workforce. By designing projects around robotic capabilities, SunRobi enables smaller, highly skilled teams to execute larger projects with greater predictability and safety.

“SunRobi has proven what is possible when advanced robotics is put in the hands of operators who deeply understand construction,” said James Emerick, co-founder and CEO of Cosmic Robotics. “Their ability to integrate Cosmic-1A into live projects has helped move autonomous installations from experimentation to real production.”
