Sunswap brings production in -house to the head office in Leatherhead, near London, after a successful fundraising round. The British company offers international ambitions for solar and battery-driven cooling for transport and has international ambitions.

Solar and battery-powered refrigerator company Sunwap has opened a new production facility at the British head office in Leatherhead, near London, after a successful series B fundraising.

Ben Fielden, marketing manager at Sunswap, said PV -Magazine For the first time, the move has brought important assembly processes to his own home.

“We were produced on this site with the first deliveries of unit in November 2024. We expanded this facility in January 2025 – this has created 75 new production paths. This expansion increases our capacity to meet the growing customer’s growth, “he said.

Sunwap, founded in 2020, has taken care of GBP 17.3 million ($ 21.1 million) in its last financing round and is supported by investors, including BGF, Shell Ventures, Barclays and Clean Growth Fund. The company has tested its endurance product with large transport companies, including the largest supermarket store in the United Kingdom, Tesco, and dairy giant Müller.

Stample is a transport cooling unit (Tru) that combines battery storage with solar modules to replace the diesel units that are usually used to feed transport cooling. The Tru was completely manufactured by Sunswap, Fielden said, adding that it was designed to be mounted on ‘every brand trailer’.

Sunwap’s endurance product feeds the cooling in a trailer via battery storage system.

“This is not a retrofit solution, but rather a direct replacement of diesel units. With this approach we can optimize the entire system for maximum efficiency and performance, “he said.

Challenge units can work for 24 hours on a single cargo when dragging frozen goods and a maximum of two months for cooled goods, according to Sunswap, with solar Zonne-Zonne-Extender integrated by the vehicle. The company offers a modular battery system with options from 32 kWh to 72 kWh.

After the successful fundraising round and extensive production possibilities, Sunwap looks in the view of expansion in the British market and abroad, with Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (Benelux) a starting point for EU expansion.

“The European market is an important focus, especially after our recent cooperation with [transportation and logistics business] Tipgroep in Benelux that is active in 18 countries, “said Fielden. “Our extensive production option in Leatherhead supports this growth while retaining high -quality standards while we expand to new markets.”

Further announcements of the implementation with British food producers Samforth Brothers, Staples Gregen and Cranswick will be expected in the coming months.

Sunswap is not the first company that offers a carbon solution for transport cooling, hybrid solutions have been available on the market for quite some time. Sunswap argues that his endurance system falls apart due to the fully electrical approach.

Endurance works independently of the vehicle powertrain, a design choice that, according to Sunswap, is more efficient than hybrid systems, which depend on the power of the engine of a truck or an auxiliary engine for backup. Fielen said that this results in simpler maintenance, reduced weight “in most configurations” and zero outlet emissions.

The Sunswap Marketing Manager added that customer testing consistently has a reduction in the total ownership costs of 35% compared to diesel units for a period of 10 years, with operating costs 90% lower than diesel equivalents due to eliminated fuel costs and reduced maintenance.
