TCL SunPower and Failte Solar drive growth in the UK and Ireland

TCL SunPower Global has entered into a strategic partnership with Failte Solar, Ireland’s largest distributor of solar equipment, to strengthen its presence in two of Europe’s most dynamic renewable energy markets. The partnership will see Failte Solar become the exclusive distributor of TCL Solar and SunPower modules in Ireland and join the list of TCL Solar module distributors in the UK.

This collaboration comes at a crucial time for both markets. Ireland’s solar PV sector has experienced rapid growth, exceeding 2 GW of installed capacity in 2025, a significant milestone compared to the cumulative capacity of 1.76 GW as of May 2025. Solar PV now supplies more than 20% of Ireland’s electricity demand during summer peaks, with residential installations dominating the market, and in October, 43% of electricity demand was covered by renewable energy generation. Indeed, Ireland has broken records in solar energy generation this year, and the target of reaching 8 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030 means we can expect more partnerships of this scale as the deadline approaches and demand increases.

Great Britain and Ireland: contrasting markets

In contrast, the UK market is a different proposition, currently boasting 20 GW of installed capacity. In a similar contrast, the UK market is leaning heavily towards commercial installations, supported by established policies and incentives that have driven large-scale solar adoption. Failte Solar CEO Mark Shinners highlighted the company’s readiness to meet demand in both markets: “As the largest distributor of solar equipment solutions in Ireland, along with a rapidly growing presence in the UK market, Failte Solar is well equipped to provide fast, reliable access to high-quality solar solutions through our strong installer network with over 250,000 square meters of storage capacity.”

Steven Zhang, Managing Director at TCL SunPower Global, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership, saying: “Failte Solar is a key partner in our regional expansion. Their extensive installer network and strong local relationships give us the reach and flexibility to accelerate our growth in Ireland and the UK.”

Mark Shinners, CEO of Failte Solar, commented: “This partnership strengthens our offering and positions us to meet growing demand with speed, scale and service excellence.”
