Earthlight Technologies has completed a 300 kW solar carport installation for Lynch Toyota in Manchester, Connecticut. The project was funded through C-PACE with support from Connecticut Green Bank.
Lynch Toyota is a family-owned automotive dealership founded in 1970 by Michael B. Lynch Sr. The dealership offers a wide selection of new and used cars, trucks and SUVs, along with an auto body shop and full-service department. Every year since 2003, Lynch Toyota has received Toyota’s President’s Award, which recognizes excellent customer satisfaction and operational performance.
“For us, covering our property with solar panels makes both financial and practical sense. We save money and it helps keep our vehicles protected from the elements,” said General Manager Conor Lynch.
Solar energy projects financed through Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) are designed to achieve a positive savings to investment ratio. This means that energy savings are expected to exceed project costs over time, allowing commercial property owners to reduce operating costs while investing in clean energy upgrades.
“A solar awning can be a great option for a property owner looking to reap the benefits of solar energy when the roof isn’t the right choice and a large parking space is available,” says Mackey Dykes, vice president of financing programs at Green Bank. “The best approach for property owners is to discuss their specific needs with a contractor and discover what makes the most sense for their situation.”
Since its inception in 2013, the C-PACE program has supported more than 429 projects and enabled more than $400 million in investments, allowing commercial property owners to focus on their businesses and reduce their energy costs.
