International Energy Major Umoengies has unveiled plans for a proposed PV energy plant from solar energy with a co-located battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near Birmingham Airport.

The proposed Solar Farm Castle Hills will have a capacity of solar generation of 49.9 MW, with a 5mw on site Bess. Plans for the site include the installation of fixed-tilt solar PV units and biodiversity improvements, including planting native hedges and vegetation to screen the site from view when seen from nearby heritage sites. The building permit is requested for a period of 40 years, after which the site will be returned to its former state.

An unnamed spokesperson for the total plans called the proposed plans “an important step in the journey from the West Midlands to a low -carbon future”. The spokesperson added that the company is “proud to promote one of the most ambitious solar projects in Great Britain”, and noted that the proposal “combines sustainable energy generation with long-term benefits in the long term”.

A public consultation about the proposals has been launched, with members of the public invited to share online feedback until July 7one Or attend a personal consultation event in Solihull on 1 July.

TOAMEN states that it is currently in discussion with the nearby Birmingham airport to investigate how the PV energy plant of the Zonne -PV could support growth in the area, including via a Potential Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) that would see the airport of the site decrease.

At the beginning of this year, London Stansted Airport announced that the EDF renewable energy sources had appointed to build and operate a new 14.3 MW of the Solar Center on the land on Land of the Third Print Airport in London; The construction work on the site has been set to start immediately.

November 2024, Farnborough Airport in Hampshire saw a £ 2 million PV installation on the roof in collaboration with Solar Installer Solivus. The development, which has an installed capacity of 1,700 kWp, is able to provide up to 25% of the annual electricity needs of the airport and will mainly be used to support the growing fleet of EVs. Last November also marked the approval of a 1,132 KWP solar installation on the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) site in Prestwick, Scotland, which will consist of a total of 2,200 individual panels.

Earlier in June, Tomengies announced that it had taken over an eight-project solar pipeline from a total of 350 MW from developer Low Carbon of Renewable Energy, of which two co-location were with BESS projects with a combined capacity of 85 MW.
