AffiliationA solar developer based in West Hartford, and NJR Clean Energy Ventures (CEV)The subsidiary of renewable energy of New Jersey Resources, today celebrated the groundbreaking of Glastonbury Solar One, a 3-MW community solar project in Glastonbury, Connecticut. This marks the first project under construction of the strategic partnership between the two organizations announced in October 2024 to develop projects for solar energy and solar storage on solar energy in the northeast.

Glastonbury Solar One is part of a portfolio of 18 projects in advanced development phases of Connecticut, Maine, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. This series of projects is more than 52 MW capacity. Once completed, the projects are expected to generate sufficiently sufficiently to provide power to more than 7,400 American houses.

“The groundbreaking of Glastonbury Solar One symbolizes an important step forward in our collaboration with CEV,” said Will Herchel, CEO of Verogy. “This project is an example of our shared dedication to expanding fair access to clean energy, supporting local communities and stimulating sustainable development.”

Glastonbury Solar One is located on a 15 -hectare site and is being developed as part of the Shared Clean Energy Facility (SCEF) program of Connecticut. SCEF, managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (Deep), is designed to expand access to solar energy benefits for residents and companies that are unable to install solar systems on the roof. Subscribers receive monthly credits on their electricity accounts, which offer annual savings, in particular for households with low and moderate incomes.
