Vikram Solar Ltd today announced that it will adopt the G12R format across its entire portfolio of PV modules. The company says this move reflects a broader industry trend toward larger wafers, high-efficiency n-type technologies and bifacial module designs aimed at increasing energy yield and improving project economics.
The announcement comes as Vikram Solar continues to scale up its manufacturing operations. The company has expanded its module manufacturing capacity to 9.5 GW, with manufacturing facilities in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. According to the company, the scale provides a strong operational foundation to standardize on a single, highly efficient technology platform, while maintaining consistency, quality and reliability at volume.
The G12R product line includes the Hypersol G12R 132 half-cell series and the Hypersol Pro G12R. According to Vikram Solar, the modules deliver power up to 640 W and efficiency levels up to 23.69%. Their rectangular large format design reportedly enables an optimized container utilization of 98.5%, reducing logistics costs and improving economics at the project level. The Hypersol Pro design also provides unidirectional power flow, effectively eliminating countercurrent flow and minimizing energy losses to maximize overall energy generation, the company said.
“Solar energy manufacturing is entering a phase where scale alone is not enough. Clarity on technology direction and excellence in execution will define long-term leadership,” said Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Vikram Solar. “By fully transitioning to the G12R portfolio, Vikram Solar is making a conscious choice to lead in performance, consistency and future-proof innovation. This shift reflects our commitment to setting benchmarks for highly efficient solar energy production from India for the world – benchmarks that global markets can rely on.”
The transition will take place in phases to ensure continuity of existing customer obligations while optimizing production yields and quality assurance across all facilities. Vikram Solar says it is working closely with suppliers, partners and customers to enable smooth adoption of the new modules and strengthen long-term value creation.
