The debt facility totals £50 million, consisting of £30 million of committed financing and up to £20 million of additional uncommitted capacity, subject to agreed terms. It will partially fund the first three Price Protect projects, with further drawdowns expected as new projects reach financial close. The agreement supports the company’s plans to finance more than 15 projects over the next 12 to 24 months, with further expansion in subsequent years.
The debt facility is supported by additional equity investments from Ara Partners, Wattstor’s private equity funder, with IDCM acting as exclusive financial advisor to the company.
Stephan Marty, CEO of Wattstor, said: “The financing supports the next phase of Wattstor’s growth as we scale the Price Protect portfolio. The facility allows us to progress our initial projects while maintaining a disciplined and repeatable development approach, underpinned by the continued support of our partners.”
Based in London Wattstor launched its Price Protect renewable tariff in January 2025, offering companies a hybrid model that combines the flexibility of variable pricing with the certainty of capped rates. Prices are set below prevailing market levels while following wholesale movements, allowing customers to benefit from price drops.
Unlike traditional PPAs, the tariff bundles the grid and on-site renewable generation into one contract that covers a site’s entire electricity demand, allowing businesses to transition to 100% renewable energy while controlling costs and carbon emissions.
Wattstor operates across multiple segments of the renewable energy value chain, developing tailor-made solar and battery energy storage (BESS) solutions for commercial and industrial customers, while operating and optimizing assets through its Podium energy management system.
Rather than owning capacity, the company is deploying distributed systems at customer sites, including projects for Mawdsleys and Scottish Water Horizons. To date, Wattstor has delivered more than 100 projects and manages more than 60 MWh of storage through Podium in the UK and Czech Republic.
Recent deployments include a 60 kWp solar PV system with a 108 kWh battery at Suttons Farm, a 600 kWp rooftop PV array paired with a 2 MWh BESS at HENNLICH, and a 2.5 MWh battery system integrated with solar at Mawdsleys.
