D3Energy has officially launched the construction on a 6-MW floating solar system for the village of Monroeville, which will be the largest floating solar installation in Ohio and one of the largest in the country.

Put by the village and developed in collaboration with D3Energy, the system will feed the local distribution network of Monroeville and provide a clean, renewable energy to houses and companies throughout the community. Under a long -term PPA, the village will buy electricity at Gardner Capital, the owner of the project.

“We were lucky to work with Monroeville from the early stages, and their vision and perseverance are the key to get us here,” said Stetson Tacividjian, director of D3Energy. “Monroeville has long been a leader in the energy space, and with this project they will use more green energy than much larger provinces and cities throughout the country. They give a daring example of how a rural community can have a meaningful impact on promoting clean energy.”

By using the existing reservoir of the village, the project retains more than 30 hectares of land that would otherwise have been needed for a traditional system mounted on the ground. In addition to preserving land, Floating Solar offers environmental benefits such as reduced evaporation and improved water quality.

D3Energy has compiled the same team that in 2023 supplied the successful Del-Co Water Floating Solar Project, which again collaborated with Gardner Capital and local contractor ARP Solar to support the Monroeville installation. Together they bring a strong state of service in floating solar development and experience in the field in Ohio.

Construction is now underway and the system is expected to go live at the beginning of 2026.
