T1 Energy, the production player of the solar panel that is previously known as Freyr, announced in his 2024 report that it chose a site in Milam County, Texas, to set up a 5-GW solar cell production facility. The site located northeast of Austin will be labeled as ‘G2 Austin’, while the existing solar panel outfit of T1 in Wilmer is called ‘G1 Dallas’.

T1 has performed a lease and purchase option for 100 hectares in the advanced production and logistix campus on Sandow Lakes. The company will invest up to $ 850 million in the site and is expected to create new advanced production paths up to 1,800.

“The addition of solar cell production is fundamental for building the American supply chain of T1. We are delighted to take that next step here in Texas, where the leadership and business community of the state continue to develop the infrastructure, talent and business climate that is necessary to support this project,” said Daniel Barcelo, CEO and CEO and CEO and CEO and CEO and CEO and CEO and CEO, CEO and CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO and CEO and CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO and the board of the Board. “We are grateful for the support we have received from the Wilmer, Austin and Milam County communities and look forward to working together.”

In January and February 2025, the company produced more than 220 MW of panels in the factory that uses a licensed Trina Solar technology. The site houses four production lines for the Nuts scale market that produces a mix of perc and topcon modules. T1 expects to reach 3.4 GW of production at the end of the year.
