QuotaA manufacturer of solar racking will invest $ 9.3 million to build its first American production facility in High Point, North Carolina, creating 20 new jobs.

“This announcement is another illustration of how many companies want to do business in North Carolina,” said Gov. Josh Stein. “Our competent workforce, dedication to sustainability and useful location in the east coast continues to attract global manufacturers such as Opsun Corporation. I am proud of the continuous dedication of North Carolina to our clean energy economy, and I am delighted to welcome Opsun in our state.”

Head office in Quebec City, Quebec, Opsun designs and produces aluminum solar panel mounting structures for commercial, industrial and residential markets. As the third production site, the new facility of Opsun will increase its warehouse space and triple the footprint of the current activities. The company produces racks for flat and pitched roof, ground confirmation, carport, pergola and wall mounted PV projects.

“We are very happy to open our first American basic factory in such a thriving economic and strategic center,” said François Gilles-Gagnon, president of Opsun. “This new facility will be a key to the growth of Opsun in the US, and together with our workforce of North Carolina and local suppliers we will help stimulate the growth of solar installations throughout the state and in the United States. Opsun is always all components in North America and this American facility is reinforced.”

A performance -based subsidy of $ 40,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help the company to start up in North Carolina. The Onenco Fund offers financial assistance to local governments to attract economic investments and to create jobs. Companies do not receive money in advance and must meet job creation and capital investments to be eligible for payment.

“These new jobs are a great addition to Guilford County and the whole state of North Carolina,” said Phil Berger, Pro Tempore of North Carolina. “The production work and the accessible talent in the region are unparalleled, and we know that Opsun will have a prosperous future here.”
