Ethical power has granted a building permit for three solar energy plants with a combined generation capacity of 63.4 MW.

The approval of the planning was received for the 49.9 MW Burcot Solar Farm, a developed development of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (Bess) in South Oxfordshire, the 7.5 MW Lane Lane Lane Solar PV factory, near Chesterfield, and the 6MW Kirkgate Solar Site.

As part of the Plan for Clean Power 2030 (CP30), the government focuses on 45 GW-47GW capacity for the generation of solar energy, which has seen the “high demand for renewable infrastructure” to which the development director of Ethical Power Steve Cains attributed the planning approors.

In particular, the BURCOT site will remain in agricultural use with sheep grazing on the land. A 86.7% biodiversity net profit, ethical power also said that as soon as the site is out of use, the landscape will be restored to what it was during the pre -war years, based on historical maps and aerial photography.

The 6MW Kirkgate schedule, located on a former mining area in West Yorkshire, will see a net profit of 135% in Habitat units.

The vertically integrated infrastructure company, which specializes in Utility-Scal solutions for solar energy and battery storage, has put forward the three projects via Hive Ethical Project Developments, a joint venture with Hive Energy. Hive Energy, a renewable energy developer that differs from Centrica’s UK Eco-Tech Sacit Hive, acquired an interest of 50% in ethical capacity in 2021.

The Ethical Power development sport folio is part of the range of ‘full-wrap’, taking projects through development and construction. The company says it is unique positioned with internal capacities throughout the project life cycle.

Last year it worked together with Varco Energy to offer a balance of factory services (BOP) and install equipment for a Bess project of 47.5 MW in Cornwall. The partnership came shortly after the ethical power obtained a debt facility of £ 7 million from the investment manager Triple Point.

In 2021, ethical power founded the Lynher Energy Investment Fund, which yielded 20% of the financing, with the remaining 80% supplied by Napier Park Global. The fund acquired its first solar and BES projects in 2023 and signed its first Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) in 2024, for the 27MW Twitch Hill Solar Park.

Ethical power was contracted for the engineering, purchasing and construction of the site (EPC), as well as operations and maintenance (O&M).
