Catl Catapults themselves in the record books after disclosing the Tener-Stapel, the world’s first 9-MWH ultra-large capacity energy storage system solution. The company unveiled the next gene product at Ees Europe 2025.

“Catl has always been first in the energy transition,” said Amanda Xu, CTO Ess and President of Ess Europe Catl. “Om te voldoen aan de verwachting van een BESS-systeem met een hoge energiedichtheid, kleine voetafdruk, eenvoudigere AC-side configuratie en flexibele implementatie, brengen we de nieuwste CATL Tener Energy Storage-oplossing. Het doorbreekt de beperkingen van vermogenscapaciteit en producttransport en maakt doorbraken in ruimtegebruik, energie-efficiëntie, energie-efficiëntie en kosten.”

Tener Stack includes CATL’s cells with a high energy with five-year-old, zero breakdown technology, which achieves an improvement of 45% in volume use and an increase of 50% in the projected energy density compared to conventional 20-FT container systems. The internal capacity reaches up to 9 MWh.

To improve compatibility and system efficiency, Tener Stack supports both centralized and string PCs (Power Conversion System) architectures. This double technology path ensures seamless integration with mainstream AC-side equipment and a wider range of grid applications.

The stacked space efficiency of Tener Stack provides considerable economic value. For example, implementing 800 MWh storage using Tener Stack requires almost a third less containers than traditional 6-MWH systems. This reduces the number of PCS units and hidden costs related to the system on governments and increases the efficiency of land use by 40%. In general, developers can expect up to 20% optimization in the total station construction costs.

In response to logistics challenges related to the transport of containers of more than 36 tons, the legal threshold has developed the “two-in-one” design in many countries. Each unit by half a height is strictly controlled under 36 tons, which means that compliance with transport rules is checked for 99% of the world markets. This split design ensures standard shipping methods, including standard container spreaders and performances, so that the waiting times and specialized transport costs are considerably reduced by a maximum of 35%. With a lower center of gravity and flexibility for limited routes of the height, Tener Stack can easily adapt to unique transport scenarios such as bridges and rural areas, which emphasizes the benefits of its innovative structural design.

With fire safety under global research, Tener Stack uses Catl’s robust LFP battery chemistry. Upgraded gas sensors offer 40% higher sensitivity, so that suppressing systems are activated 35% faster. A new triple layer of insulation design increases the fire resistance to two hours and the system complies with IEEEE693 SEISMIC standards, sustainable magnitude 9 earthquakes and category 5 hurricanes. In addition, an overhead TMS (Thermal Management System) design reduces thermal radiation, lowers the land and maintenance costs and keeps noise to 65 dB (A) at 1 m, which is ideal for urban use.

“Tener -stack, gigantic, flexible, reliable and quiet. We not only deliver an energy storage product, but a solution for energy accessibility that can be applied worldwide,” said Hank Zhao, CTO of Ess Europe Catl. “9 MWh is not the limit of energy capacity or space. Every breakthrough in energy density in the future will unleash a greater energy value of a smaller footprint.”
