The British government has published its Solar Roadmap today, an article in the government industry that makes practical measures to meet the objectives of solar capacity.

The route map states that complying with the top of the capacity ambition that takes place in the Action Plan of Clean Power 2030 (CP30) of 47 GW -Zonne -Zonne -Energy, only 0.4% of the total British country and power, would require the equivalent of nine million houses with the help of solar energy.

It is the highlight of the work of two years, in which the solar task force was launched according to the recommendation of former conservative parliament member Chris Skidmore in his assessment 2023 of Net Zero, and reconnected by the current energy secretary Ed Miliband shortly after the current government came to power.

In its current iteration, the Task Force is jointly chaired by Miliband and Chief Executive of Solar Trade Body Solar Energy UK (Seuk) Chris Hewett. It was previously chaired by Andrew Bowie MP and Graham Stuart MP.

The solar route map states 72 Actions To accelerate the efficient roll -out of solar energy in the UK, divided into six categories: solar tracts on the roof, electricity networks, supply chain and innovations, skills, planning and support schedules and working with others.

The Task Force now becomes the Zonne-Council, co-chairman of Hewett and Energy Minister Michael Shanks to supervise and identify and tackle the emerging threat if they occur.

Important actions in the route map include procedural reforms to work parallel to the existing reforms of the schedule connection that would accelerate scheduling connections, which means that large-scale roof and ground-mount projects are most likely to jump the queue.

After the initial investment in schools and NHS buildings, GB Energy is emphasized by the route map as an important tool for supporting the rollout of PV on the roof in the public sector. For private commercial buildings, the National Wealth Fund (NWF) will investigate potential structures to finance solar projects or portfolios, in which innovative business models are being pursued, including those who enter into PPAs with counterparties for under -research.

The Task Force identified a constant lack of consciousness about the benefits of both domestic and commercial scale on the roof as an obstacle to achieving goals. So the government will update its energy -efficient home website to promote the implementation of solar energy, and the UK Warehousing Association will develop a toolkit for the commercial market. It will also work to resolve barriers, such as leasing terms and problems with network connections.

One of the route maps will see an investigation into the safety of ‘plug-in panels’, which have been seen on balconies in Spain and Germany. The technology is currently forbidden in the UK, but makes it theoretically easier and cheaper to implement the Interior Zonne -Zon by installing panels that connect to the plug -sockets of the house.

UK Solar Supply Chain

According to the government, the solar route map is a “one-off possibility to grow the solar supply chain and production capacity in the UK.”

Conventional silicon -based panel production is concentrated in China, something that has been recognized and undisputed in the sun sector for some time. Although setting up the production of the domestic silicon panel is not economically viable, the route map says that there is room to grow the production of transformers, inverters, switching equipment, supporting bracketry, battery storage and cabling.

There is also a chance for lightweight perovskiet technology and R&D in the UK, with the thin film technology developed by Power Roll that is cited as an example.

Neil Spann, CEO of Power Roll, said that solutions for the one-in-four commercial roofs that traditional solar PV panels cannot support in the route map of the route map of the triple implementation of solar energy to fulfill.

“We are delighted to be seen in the UK Solar Taskforce Report published this morning, which acknowledges that our leading, innovative solar film has the potential to bring about a revolution in global energy solutions,” he said.

The route map connects the government to explore opportunities to support the development of standards for solar panels of the next generation and emerging applications.

The route map also offers support for the Solar Stewardship Initiative to ensure that no solar panels are obtained from supply chains that arise from forced labor; The dedication of the Great British Energy Company to slavery-free solar-sun competition also uses the initiative, set up by SEUK.

When building a workforce that can support British sun growth, the route map offers 11 actions about skills, including improving training and mapping routes to competence.

Training for planning departments will also be provided that, together with reforms in the planning system, must accelerate approvals for large-scale solar developments. Another remarkable action of the route map will tackle the government the viability of the inclusion of floating solar pv in the contracts for difference (CFD) mechanism to ensure income security for emerging technology.

The new Solar Council will meet three times a year to assess the progress of each of the action points and to ensure that the UK is on schedule to meet solar goals.
