Standard Solar adds a system of 7.2 MW to Port Newark

This edition of Projects weekly Emphasizes the new solar system on the roof and the canopy in one of the busiest ports in the United States. Plus, SolarBank’s 7.2 MW Hoadley Hill project has completed a mandated interconnection study to move forward, Recurrent Energy has energized a 1,200 MWh storage facility in Arizona in time to meet peak summer demand, DSD Renewables has partnered with General Energy to complete a 675 kW solar project for the Elmhurst Park District in Illinois, and a New Community Solar Project Has Powered Up in the Baltimore-Washington Region. Standard solar energy Installed a solar system of 7.2 MW to 50% of the energy needs for the Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) In New Jersey. The project supplies renewable energy via roof and canopy systems that are built without disturbing the gate activity.

“Designing and installing a system of this scale within a fully operational, with great traffic container facility required adapted engineering and constant coordination,” said CJ ColavitoGeneral director of integrated project teams, standard solar energy. “From raised canopy structures to arrays on the roof, each component is designed to work on a continuous gate activity without jeopardizing safety or performance.”

Cool factor: Completed in collaboration with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the city of Newark, the system was strategically built on active truck strips, roofs and parking spaces, maximizing the available space while maintaining full operational continuity during construction.

Built over the 320-hectare terminal, the installation also has the capacity to send excess capacity to the Newark grid, in support of local energy passenger and emission reduction. The project functions:

  • 3.8 MW raised awning mounted arrays about active truck jobs.
  • 3.4 MW of extra roof and parking breeds.
  • Real -time dashboard for monitoring the production of energy and carbon savings.

“This project shows the ingenuity and adaptability of solar energy to thrive in even the most complex, space-reduced logistics environments,” said Rick BerubeChief Operations Officer, Standard Solar. “We are proud to help PNCT to lead the way to a cleaner, more resilient port in Leiden, and not only benefit from terminal operations, but also the Newark community and region as a whole.”

Solarbanks 7.2 MW Hoadley Hill project completes the interconnection study

Solarbank Corp. has made an important milestone clear in the development of the 7.2 MW Hadley Hill Road Ground-Mount Solar Project in Upstate New York. The project has completed the Coordinated Electric System Interconnection Review (CESIR). This critical regulatory green light paves the way for the following major steps – securing full site permits, financing and preparation for construction.

“With the interconnection review now in the rearview mirror, we are shifting to a high gear,” said Solarbank CEO Dr. Richard Lu. “We are now ahead of full speed in allowing and project financing to bring this clean energy solution online.”

As soon as permits and financing are secured, SolarBank is planning to start construction of what will be structured as a community project for the community.

Solarbank Hoadley Hill Toronto

Cool factor: The Hoadley Hill Road Solar Project is planned to deliver enough power to serve around 850 houses and will feed directly in the local schedule. Supported by the value of New York of distributed energy sources (VDE) compensation mechanism, the project is expected to receive $ 0.0971/kWh in the annual average compensation.

Solarbank also focuses on incentives via the NY-Sun program of Nyserda, with the potential to obtain a one-off payment of a maximum of $ 0.395/W. Recurrent Energy Energie provides a storage facility of 1200 MWh in Arizona

Recurring energyA subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc.has started with commercial activities in its 1,200 MWh Papago Storage Facility in Maricopa County, Arizona. The project is now sending stored energy to Arizona Public Service (APS), the largest electrical utility of the state, on time to help meet the rising electricity needs during the summer season.

“The summer is here and we are ready to operate APS customers with the energy they need when they need it,” said Derek Seaman, APS director of Resource Acquisition. “The Papago storage project is part of our various and balanced energy mix, so that we continue to offer Arizona with a top reliability and affordable service.”

The subsidiary of the majority of Canadian Solar, E-Storage, served as the Turnkey Engineering, Procurement and Construction Provider for the project and will continue to support Papago Storage under a long-term service agreement.

Recurrent Energy Papago Storage Arizona

Cool factor: Papago Storage is the first of three recurring energy projects with toll agreements that APS become operational. Together, the three projects will offer 1,800 MWh of battery storage capacity and 150 MWAC from Solar generation. As soon as they are all fully operational, they will store and deliver enough electricity to serve the equivalent of 72,000 houses for four hours, together with the capacity of solar generation sufficient to support around 24,000 houses annually.

“By bringing one of the largest battery storage projects in our state online during this critical time when the demand for energy is growing rapidly, our utilities will help to carry out an all-in-de-above reaction to that question and to further diversify the energy sources of Arizona,” said Kevin Thompson, chairman of the Arizona Corporation Commission.

In addition to strengthening the reliability of the network, the project also contributes to the local community through tax revenues and direct support. Through the Community Community and Renewable Energy (CARE) program, Recurring Energy donated to the Harquahala Fire District and Arlington Elementary School in Maricopa County.

DSD, General Energy Complete 675 KW Solar project for Illinois Park District

DSD -Refinable energy sources And General Energy Corp. have completed a 674.96 kW of solar installation on the roof for Elmhurst Park District in Illinois, so that the district is able to achieve sustainability goals and to deliver the local community in the long term. The system will generate approximately 754 MWh electricity annually and compensate 50% of the energy needs of the district.

“This milestone reflects our dedication to reduce our environmental footprint while serving our community,” said Angela M. Ferrentino, director of Referendum Projectbouw for Elmhurst Park District. “This solar project represents an investment in our parks, people and planet, and was more than just an infrastructure upgrade. We are convinced that it will have a positive impact on the Elmhurst community for a long time.”

DSD Elmhurst Park Solar Project Illinois

Cool factor: The ELMHURST project is financed through a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and the district anticipates a net positive financial impact of approximately $ 307,000 over the term of the agreement. General Energy is part of DSD’s Developer Network, a Channel Partner program that offers regional developers the tools and resources they need to successfully develop more projects. DSD will possess and exploit the project in the long term.

“Elmhurst Park District gives a strong example for how public organizations can lead the way in the acceptance of clean energy,” said Katherine Lillydahl, senior account executive for DSD’s Developer Network. “Projects such as these strengthen our dedication to help communities to build a more sustainable energy future and accelerate acceptance throughout the country.”

The Howard County community of Maryland celebrated the energy of a new 3.2 MWDC Community Solar Project in Fulton. The Lime Kiln project has been developed by Chaberton Energy and is owned and is managed by Turn energy.

The project is part of the Maryland Community Solar Program and is fully subscribed. Community Solar offers residents and companies in the area able to access cheaper, renewable energy that is generated locally. Subscribers to Kalkoven save an average 10% discount on their electricity bill every year.

“Renewable energy projects such as these are crucial for the continuous success of Howard County,” said Calvin Ball, director of Howard County. “Solar brings locally generated energy to our community, while helping to achieve the ambitious goal of Maryland to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2035.”

Chaberton Energy Lime Kiln Solar Project Maryland

Cool factor: During a ribbon cutting ceremony, Chaberton Energy presented a check of $ 10,000 to the Bright Minds Foundation, Howard County Public Schools Education Foundation via the Chaberton Cares program. The donation will finance a voice for the graduation of seniors in the next five years. This project also contains Agrivoltaics, which is the practice to combine solar energy generation with agricultural activity on the same country.

“Lime Kiln will burst sheep, indigenous patient plant and other efforts to guarantee the long -term productivity of this country,” said Richard Gilker, senior VP of technical operations at Pivot Energy.

The Lime Kiln project uses 15 hectares on a 57 hectare large piece of land and includes local pollinators such as Milkweed (a monarch favorite), Black Eyes Susans (the Maryland State Flower), Asters and Mountain Mint. These carefully selected indigenous plants will attract insects, butterflies and birds, supporting the biodiversity and agriculture of the environment.

Lime Kiln is one of the two Pivot / Chaberton projects that are expected to be ratified in Maryland this summer. Greyrock project, a 3.3 MWDC sun project in Wicomico County, will offer electricity to local residents in the near future.
