The last analysis of ALEASOFT finds the weekly average electricity price in most major European markets during the third week of July comparable to the week before. In the meantime, Spain broke his record for the daily production of solar energy on July 16.
The electricity prices remained stable on most major European electricity markets in the third week of July, according to analysis of ALEASOFT Energy Prognosing.
The Spanish consultancy noticed an increase of the week in the week at the weekly average electricity price in the British, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish markets.
The increase was small in most cases, ranging from 0.1% in the Netherlands and 0.2% in Portugal to 8.8% in Italy. The Uitbijter was France, where the weekly average price increased by 22% thanks to a price peak concentrated at the start of the week.
The Belgian and Nordic markets were the only analyzed markets to fall a decrease in their weekly average electricity price, 1.3% and 2.5% respectively.
The results of last week mean that most markets retained weekly price averages above € 75 ($ 88.03)/MWH, with only the Nordic (€ 33.12/MWH) and French (€ 60.89/MWH) markets under this figure. The Italian market remained the highest price of the week, for € 117.87/MWh, followed by the British market, at € 95.53/MWh.
The Belgian, German, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese markets registered negative values for a few hours of the third week of July, with the Iberian market of Portugal and Spain registering the lowest hourly price of the week, on -€ 1.01/MWh on 20 July between 16:00 and 17:00.
ALEASOFT predicts that the fourth week of July will see a decrease in electricity prices on large European markets, driven by a lower demand for electricity and an increase in the production of wind energy.
The consultancy also noted that last week a week-on-week increase in the production of solar energy in Germany, Portugal and Spain saw, but a decrease in France and Italy.
Spain broke his record for the daily production of solar energy on July 16 and reached 237 GWH, while Portugal set up a new best for solar energy that was produced one day in July when the 30 GWH recorded two days earlier.
ALEASOFT expects this week that the production of solar energy has fallen in the German, Italian and Spanish markets.
