Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (RRVUNL) started accepting bids to build independent Bess that is connected to India’s State Transmission Utility (Stu), with a combined capacity of 2,000 MWh (500 MW x four hours). The systems work on a loading and discharge base with one cycle.

RRVUNL is planning to use the BES on request to meet the needs of the state during peak and off-peak hours.

The utility said it will sign the purchase agreements (SPA) of Battery Energy Storage (SPA) with winning bidders to offer storage services. Developers will build, possess and operate the systems on a construction-own operation (BOO) basis.

Projects granted under this request for selection (RFS) will be eligible for central financial support via Viability Gap Funding (VGF) under the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) schedule, issued by the Indian Ministry of Power.
