Gridbeyond and electrification technology company ABB ‘deepened’ their strategic partnership to deliver ABB’s BESS-A-A-Service offer.
ABB has made a strategic investment in Gridbeyond, which in 2024 offers intelligent energy management solutions, whereby the partnership between the two companies was launched. Together they offer a fully managed energy storage service to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers worldwide.
The flagship product of Gridbeyond is managed battery-as-a-service (MBAAS), which makes external management, energy price forecast, trade optimization, service pavement, trade submissions and device control possible.
The new BES-A-A-Service offer includes all hardware, software and life cycle support, where ABB implementation, maintenance and optimization are managed with zero capex. It is designed to be technology agent, so that companies can use the service without being bound by a single system.
To deliver the new solution, Gridbeyond and ABB will also collaborate with Tallarna, a platform for climate technology and finance, which will supply its data analysis software, insurance solutions and financing expertise for Battery Energy Storage System (Bess) projects (BESS) in De-Risico on the Risk Batterk van these of these battery of these battery of these battery of these battery of these battery of these battery of these battery of these battery of this battery of this battery of these battery of this batter Initiatives.
The Gridbeyond platform will offer the prediction of energy price to make strategic charging and discharging possible, and the AI possibilities will optimize the performance of ABB’s BESS-A-A-Service assets. This supports real-time energy optimization, response participation in demand and access to new income flows on global energy markets.
ABB is currently carrying out feasibility assessments with potential customers to guarantee immediate financial benefits before the use of BESS-A-A-Service.
Michael Phelan, CEO of Gridbeyond, said that to take advantage of the benefits that Bess can offer, “it is crucial to analyze the feasibility of the projects, the financial implications and to have an accurate AI platform that can maximize the potential of the batteries.”
In November last year, Gridbeyond and Triodos Energy Transition Europe Fund expanded their joint venture, Gridbeyond -storage, with an investment obligation of more than £ 9 million from Triodos. More recently, Gridbeyond was selected by Ampyr Solar Europe (ASE) to manage its 7.5 MW Bess, together with the 400 MWP Northwold Solar PV development.
