Arevon Energy announced the start of operations at its Eland 1 Solar-plus-Storage Project in Kern County, California. Eland 1 Solar-plus-Storage, located in the city of Mojave, is a 384 MWdirect current solar energy project linked to energy storage of 150 MW/600 MWh.

A second phase of the Eland Solar-plus-Storage Project is currently under construction and is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2025. When both phases are completed, the combined capacity of the projects will total 758 MW.direct current of solar energy with 300 MW/1,200 MWh of energy storage.

Eland’s solar and storage configuration allows it to provide reliable, predictable energy output during periods of peak electricity demand in the Southern California region. The combination of solar panels and battery storage systems plays a critical role in maintaining a steady supply of renewable energy, increasing the resilience of the electric grid and responding to critical demand challenges.

Eland 1 has a long-term power purchase agreement with the Southern California Public Power Authority, which will manage the contract for two of its members: Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and Glendale Water and Power. San Diego-based SOLV Energy led the engineering, procurement and construction activities for the project.
