Astronergy says it is planning to invest $ 500 million in a solar cell factory in Turkey, which extends its presence outside its existing 850 MW module assembly facility.

Astronergy, the Solar module unit of the Chinese Chint Group, has announced plans to build a solar cell factory in Turkey.

The company unveiled the project on the “2030 industrial and technology strategy and large -scale industrial investment promotional conference” in the presidential palace in Ankara. Lu Chuan, chairman and president of Astronergy, met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the event.

As part of the high-tech stimulation program of Turkey (HIT-30), Astronergy has committed at least $ 500 million to develop an advanced tunneloxide-passivated contact (TOPON) 4.0 Solar Cell Production Line and an R&D and Innovation Center. The facility will produce locally manufactured solar cells, with at least 80% of the output designated for export.

Astronergy previously invested in a PV module factory in Turkey, which from March 2025 reached at least 850 MW of production capacity, said a company spokesperson said PV -Magazine. The new investments in the production of solar cells are expected to strengthen the supply chain of the company in the country.

Erdoğan welcomed the investment and called it an important step towards the green energy goals of Turkey. The Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology and other senior officials also attended the event, discussed investment specifications, technological cooperation and future development with Astronergy executives.

During the meeting, Chuan emphasized Turkey’s strategic position as a bridge between European and Asian markets.

Turkey launched HIT-30 in July 2024 to attract $ 30 billion in foreign investments in high-tech sectors, including EVs, semiconductors, batteries and renewable energy sources. With the new Topcon Solar Cell factory, Astronergy will be the only fully foreign manufacturer of Solar Cell in Turkey.
