New South Wales was at the forefront with the highest installed capacity of each state in 2024, at 952 MW. Queensland (800 MW) and Victoria (582 MW) came in second and third place respectively.

Hristodoulidis said that the result indicates the continuous potential for further admission and reinforces the importance of setting up a national battery discount scheme.

Modeling by the CEC shows a national discount of up to $ 6,500 per household, could deliver another 410,000 small -scale batteries in houses and small companies by 2050, equal to 2,054 MW installed capacity from storage on the National Electricity Market (NEM).
