The Australian arm of German energy company RWE has confirmed the 50 MW/400 MWh Limondale Bess, near Balranald in southwestern New South Wales, is registered with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).

RWE said that the Bess, located next to its existing, 249 MW Limondale Solar Farm, is the longest battery on grid in the country. There are very few lithium-ion chemical batteries in this duration worldwide, often with a longer duration the empire of Vanadium Redox Flowbatters.

The system, consisting of 144 Tesla Megapacks, has a capacity of more than 50 MW and 400 MWh, so that it can be sent at full force for eight hours.
